EU Officials Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions targeted individuals who have been central to efforts to introduce laws regulating American tech companies.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to pressure American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote a senior US official online. “This government will not stand for such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined France in condemning the decision.
The bans were imposed on Tuesday against a former EU commissioner who helped draft the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), as well as several anti-disinformation campaigners, from two in Germany and two in the UK.
